Oscar Strasnoy has composed several works for stage as the opera “Midea”, programmed by Luciano Berio at the Spoleto Festival 2000, the secular cantata “Wedding Preparations (with B and K)” (CD Chant du Monde), the Six Songs for the Unquiet Traveller, premiered by Ann Murray at the Wigmore Hall, London, the accompaniment music for the silent film “Underground” by Anthony Asquith (UK, 1928) premiered at the Louvre Museum. He is pianist of Ego Armand, a quintet formed as well by Daniel Gloger, counter-tenor, Pablo Márquez, guitar, Gabriel Said, percussion and Eric Chalan, double-bass. He was granted with several commissions and scholarships, such as the Guggenheim Fellowship (NY, 2007). He is writing at the moment an opera, “Le Bal”, for the Hamburg Opera House (premiere: March 2010) and un opera for the next Festival d’Aix en Provence, “Un Retour” by Alberto Manguel.
